So zum Beispiel Uncharted, God of War, Heavy Rain, Shadow of the Colossos oder Little Big Planet.

Read in English

Everybody who takes a close look at video games will ask sooner or later: PC or console? As a discussion would continue for ever and it’s part of this topic, I won’t say anything about the advantages or disadvantages, in particular because most of us already have a firm opinion and prefer what they possess.

But if one decided which to take, one does realize quickly that there re games which have been published on only one platform. For instance, Uncharted, God of War, Heavy Rain, Shadow of the Colossos or Little Big Planet. These are (partially) complete series of video games that are reserved for owners of a Playstation. In contrast to this, a Xbox owner can take pleasure in games such as Alan Wake, Halo, Left4Dead or Gears of War, which meanwhile have been published for PC as well and thus are available for owners of a Microsoft product only.
EDIT: Left4Dead 2 has been published for Linux lately.

It is easy to find a reason for the publication of exclusive games: as always, it is all about sales figures. It is quite likely that a fan of Halo and Uncharted purchases both, a Playstation 3 and a Xbox – provided that he has appropriate resources. Moreover, Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony – and in former time SEGA as well – develop their own games. Mostly, those games end up being exclusive. Who wants to allow his competitors access to his game?!

Games like such, that impress with exclusiveness, will be available for the upcoming generation of consoles. Xbox 8 or Xbox 720 and Playstation 4 will be allegedly published at the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014. Up til now, there are no certain statements from Microsoft or Sony concerning a date. Actually, both consoles haven’t been announced officially, but the internet is full of rumors, speculations and half-truth based on job offers, interviews and other hints. Beside the release date, the big question comes up whether the current generation retains the upper hand. Technical details too are still unclear and exact information are rare. Everything remains to be seen…

However, things are looking different for Nintendo. Wii U will be available from November 30, 2012 and will be based on motion control. The new gamepad with touch screen functions similar to the previous controller. Beside the classic like Zelda and Mario, there are supposed to be a lot of new games for Nintendo’s new console.

In addition to this, the first Android-console is about to be released. It is called Ouya and is meant to feature as many free-to-play-games as possible. Furthermore, everybody is allowed to develop and publish games for Ouya, which is worth seeing and unique heretofore. Approximately, the 99$-console is published in 2013 and even renowned developers like Square Enix or Namco Bendai support the project by developing games for the console.
